This workshop is a mix of everything technical and aesthetic for digital. On the first day of this course, Brooks Institute of Photography Instructor Rob Winner will teach you all the technical aspects such as: f/stops, shutter speed, ISO, basic daylight exposure, basic composition, lens selection and camera operation which will certainly enhance your creative abilities.
Rob Winner has over 20 years of commercial photography experience and has worked for such notable clients as: Balance Bar, Ford Motor Company, Volvo White, Nikon, Nike and Marquest Cruise Lines just to name a few. He has recently returned from teaching a 100-day Semester-at-Sea course where he was able to document numerous cultures around the world. Please bring a camera,. Level: Beginning-Intermediate.
Renowned travel photographer Paul Liebhardt just returning from India with new photos and stories will transport you to different worlds when he teaches this dynamic workshop on the 2nd day. He will share his experiences and insight on what it takes to capture award-winning, human-interest photographs. He has a classical approach to photographing people: subjects centered, burnished by lighting, sharply focused and captured at a moment of gesture and epiphany. He will go over the basics and will show you how to \"see a potential picture rather then just \"look at a scene. He will show you how to see the interplay of light, color, shapes, subject and shadow. The focus will be on taking social documentary photographs with an emphasis on technique.
Paul has been teaching courses in documentary photography on board the Institute for Shipboard Education for 15 years. Because of his passion for photography, he has led photographic expeditions all over the world including China, India, West Africa, Southeast Asia, Kenya, and more. When not at sea, Paul resides in Santa Barbara and works as a freelance photographer and an Instructor at Brooks Institute of Photography.
