Filmmaking Workshops. Introduction to script, shooting, lighting and editing the students will create a Short story on video and cover all the elements necessary. This is open to high school students and adults who want to learn more about filmmaking and who want to experience a week exploring the creative process at a fully equipped film school campus featuring the industry current equipment.

Brooks? Ventura studio campus, home of its Motion Picture and Visual Communication programs, is a beautifully refurbished 70,000 square foot campus in a country setting with a complete studio and back lot, including one of the largest sound stages in Southern California and the standing sets from the movie Erin Brockovich.
Participants explore cinematic storytelling, cinematography, directing, shot design and editing while creating finished projects together with faculty and other participants. The equipment is a combination of new Sony VX-2000 3-chip Digital Video cameras and Brooks? digital lab with over forty Macintosh G-4 stations equipped with the new Final Cut Pro version 4.0.
The workshop is led by Brooks Motion Picture Faculty Member Rich Fortinberry, a producer, director and cinematographer who has worked on numerous feature films, TV movies, TV series, national commercials, and corporate marketing and training films. Rich taught directing and cinematography at the USC School of Cinema-Television for five years before coming to Brooks.
