Teachers Workshop Days Broken down into Two Modules Morning and Afternoon Classroom and Digital Lab
Day 1 1. Introduction 2. Setting up the camera for raw capture -PowerPoint presentation on the idea of RAW files -Video feed from camera 3. Major camera settings 4. Camera firmware update 5. Name in camera – user comment 6. AF settings 7. Metering modes 8. Custom white balance and color temp settings 9. Metering for digital 10. Use of Macbeth and exposure 11. Key shifting assignment demo and shoot 12. We will provide one model and set up for three groups to shoot themselves 13. Outside Shoot with DSLR Key Shifting They will shoot a portrait to work on in lab plus digital files to import, copy write, rename etc.
Lunch
1. Setup an overview of Bridge interface with preferences 2. What is displayed in metadata 3. Downloading - Adobe Photo Downloader 4. Bridge ranking, sorting copying 5. Insertion of copyright and metadata 6. Key wording -Have them keyword a few images 7. Introduction to Camera Raw I -Camera raw preferences -Histogram, optimizing exposure -Sharpening -Opening tiffs, jpegs -What an xmp file is 8. Batch renaming 9. Brooks naming convention 10. Day 2
Lightroom -Library –importing, key wording -Develop – raw engine -Slideshow – Also Bridge and iPhoto -Web – quick websites and how to upload -Print
1. Photoshop preferences 2. Color Settings 3. Workflow 4. Photoshop Image adjustments -Curves -BW conversion methods -Hue saturation 5. Correcting Skin Tone Demo - Handout -Practice file for them 6. BW Toning 7. Photoshop -Retouching -Skin Tone practice -Layer Blending -Panoramas 8. How we grade in Photoshop -History Log, annotation tool, agility tests 9. Critiquing in Bridge / Camera Raw
Lunch
1. Sharpening for capture – Raw 2. Sharpening for print – Unsharp mask, smart sharpen, high pass 3. Printing -Out of Photoshop -Rendering Intents 4. Monitor profiling 5. Print profiling 7. Resolution and bit depth 6. Printing
All students should bring cameras and a few digital files to work on printing, small USB drive to tranfer photos
